“Last weekend was one of the most outstanding and inspirational 3 days of my life. I went into the weekend with no expectations and an open mind. I came out with self belief, confidence in my ability and most importantly a new attitude -The attitude that anything is possible and that I CAN do what I love and live my dream...music. Young people that participate in the Camps leave feeling motivated and positive with clarity on what they want in life and the self confidence to reach out and achieve. The changes in some of our participants have been immense. With camps held in 2004 and 2005, 351 has become an annual event for the Shire and due to its positive and ongoing outcomes. “Last year you held a Music Camp and I sent a young Koori girl to your event. She went on her own, which was a big experience for her, and she had a great time with the group. Laurel-Ann has followed up on the confidence and inspiration she gained from the MMAD Camp and auditioned for a contemporary dance program (about 150km away from her home). Not only did she commit to travelling to Canberra every Sunday for 6 months for rehearsals, she was the only Koori young person in the program. I went and watched her performance last week and she is a shining light. I am so very proud of her and am extremely glad that MMAD gave her a chance to experience these types of activities and the confidence to aim higher.
